A Disappointing Mac Lipstick

Last weekend I had a huge clear out, oh how exciting my weekends are, where I rediscovered this Mac Sheen Supreme lipstick in the shade Behave Yourself. I brought this at the duty free last year and totally forgot I had this. I love when you're having a bit of a tidy up you come across something you've completely forgot about, misplaced or even better money. (Although there wasn't any money found this time *sad face*)

Now I normally love everything Mac related, apart from their mascaras, but this is going to have to join their mascaras I'm afraid and here's why. In the bullet it's a beautiful candy pink which is ultra girly and very much a 'me shade' however when this is applied to your lips it's so sheer you'd be surprised that this is the same lipstick. It's a frost finish, which isn't my favourite, and I've also found that quite a glittery sparkle is left that tends to sit in the cracks of your lips, so you could imagine this applied to chapped lips in the Winter looks a treat.

I won't let this go to waste though as the Sheen Supreme collection is a combination of a lipstick and a lipglass, so I've been applying this over Mac's Snob for a slightly more pinker and glossier effect. As I've mentioned in previous blog posts I'm not a fan of lip gloss but I do like the overall texture of this as it feels very moisturising, isn't sticky and lasts quite a while.

If you like sheer lipsticks then this may be one for you but it isn't my cup of tea. I won't be repurchasing and I doubt I'll buy another Sheen Supreme lipstick.
Have you tried any of the Sheen Supreme collection?

  1. Oh what a shame, it looks such a pretty shade in the bullet! I'm always disappointed when products apply differently to how they look. At least you're found a use for it :)

  3. Oh no! That is super frosted! It always bothers me when the bullet colour looks way different on lips. Lip stuff and base are two things I have to swatch before purchasing. Non-negotiable!

  5. Hi - just randomly came across your blog! Its lovely!

Its a shame about this lipstick as I usually love MAC -but you are right, frosted flipsticks are really NOT a good finish in my opinion. I much prefer a matte finish!
