Review: Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

I've always loved the Elemis product range & when they launched their Pro-Collagen cleansing balm it would have been rude not to try it!

Ingredients

Padina Pavonica - Powerful anti-aging active

Elderberry Oil - Firms & plumps

Starflower Oil - Maintains skin moisture levels

Optimega Oil - Improves skin hydration
Mimosa & Rose Flower Waxes - Softens & comforts skin

At first I was a little apprehensive as to whether or not I would like this product, as I've always been a cream cleanser kind of girl. Once I really like something, I can be a little stubborn to change. (Set in my ways me) My first impression was that it was a lot stronger smelling than any other cleanser I've used previously due to the 7 essential oils that the balm contains, but it smells beautiful & really does give you that 'spa like' atmosphere! The texture is how you would expect a cleansing balm to be - quite oily. However if you apply water the balm transforms into a milky cleanser.

After the first few days of trying this, admittedly I didn't think it wasn't the right product for me mainly due to the consistency & I  even thought about going back to my old cleanser. I am soooo relieved I didn't, as after 5 days or so I could feel how much softer my skin felt. My skin used to get the classic combination oily t-zone (which is your forehead, nose & chin) but after 2 weeks or so I noticed a big improvement.

You can use this cleansing balm as a Make-up Remover, Cleanser, Exfoliator & an intensive Mask. It's nicely packaged & you receive a 100% cotton cloth with it, which thoroughly removes any make up & grime. The cotton cloth also very gently exfoliates any dead skin cells, which I personally think is a bonus to such a wonderful product. I used this to remove all of my make up including my mascara. To use this as an intensive mask I removed all my make up, cleansed & then applied a fairly generous amount to my face, neck & d├ęcolletage, I left this to absorb whilst I soaked in the tub!

The photos above are of the cleansing balm which I brought back in May 2013 & again in December 2013, you only need a tiny amount & as you can tell by the photos that it will last you months! For £39.50 at 105grams, 7 months worth of product it works out at just under £6.00 a month which is actually cheaper than cleansing wipes! I honestly could not recommend this cleansing balm to you enough. I will most definitely be re-purchasing it again when I eventually finish the pot.

Have you ever tried a cleansing balm?
